The american dental association is a member of the american dental association. Most people have some flaws in their smile. They may have extensive staining, chipped teeth, gaps between teeth, or teeth with uneven shapes. These types of cosmetic issues can be addressed with porcelain veneers. And, thanks to our CEREC system at Cosmetic Dentristy Center, we can place them in a single visit!

What are porcelain veneers?

The concept of a dental veneer isn’t any different than a veneer you would think of on a dresser. With furniture, a thin layer of high-quality wood such as teak is placed over lesser wood beneath. Porcelain veneers are the same thing. A thin shell of porcelain is placed on the front of the tooth or teeth with flaws. At Cosmetic Dentistry Center, we provide porcelain veneers to completely reshape and beautify a patient’s smile.

What are the benefits of porcelain veneers?

Remember that veneers are a cosmetic procedure, however. They cannot correct issues such as teeth with extensive decay or a deep crack. But If the patient’s teeth are in overall good health, porcelain veneers offer a solution to various dental imperfections without extended treatment times and at a far lower cost. Veneers are used to conceal crooked, chipped, misshapen, or severely stained or yellowed teeth.

What can I expect during my porcelain veneer procedure?

Once Drs. Walk or Bamel and you decide you want porcelain veneers, the first step is to prepare your tooth or teeth. To do this, we remove about ½ millimeter of enamel from each tooth that will receive a veneer. This is needed to make room for the veneers. This also makes a good adhesive surface for the veneers to attach to. We then take measurements and other information needed to create your veneers. We send this information to our CEREC system, which creates the veneers in just minutes. When the CEREC system has created your veneers, we first check them for size and color match with your adjacent teeth. Some trimming may be necessary. Once satisfied with the fit, the veneers are bonded to your teeth.

How long do veneers last?

Veneers usually last up to 10 years, at which time they then need to be replaced with a new set. It’s important to note that veneers are not a one-time procedure. Once the enamel has been removed from the fronts of your teeth, those teeth will always need to be covered with veneers to protect them. So, once your veneers reach their lifespan, you’ll need a new set.
